Nachtburgemeester Vitalski heeft het gemaakt, zonder huil- maar met gezonde lachbuien! 20 uur lang werd hij onder schot genomen door een 45-tal politici, journalisten en bekende mensen . Paraat om hiervan een beeldverslag te maken van 22 tot 24 uur, kon ik echter het niet laten om wat overuren te maken… Reden? Ten eerste de geweldige sfeer in het Internationaal Perscentrum Vlaanderen die als een bijenkorf krioelde van intellect en kunstzinnigheid. Maar zeker ook omdat om 2 uur Rick de Leeuw in actie schoot en ik een grote fan ben van hem. Ik sloot dus daarom pas af om 3 uur, wat trouwens op het uurwerk staat af te lezen! Op 21 april gaat er GODDAM! ‘A tribute to Nina Simone’ in première in de Arenberg Schouwburg, Antwerpen. Een prachtig en emotioneel eerbetoon aan “The High Priestress of Soul”, vertolkt door jonge talentvolle muzikanten en vocalisten die de diversiteit en het begeesterend karakter van Nina Simone’s oeuvre prachtig in de verf zetten. Ik garandeer dat als Joy Frempong ‘Another Women’ zingt je totaal emotioneel in je stoel bevangen wordt door een intens ontroering. Zo sterk dat ik zelfs geen foto’s meer kon nemen… en dat komt zelden voor! (ook wel eens meegemaakt toen Filip Jordens ‘Ne me quitte pas’ van Brel zong.) Hierbij de foto’s van de tryout. Quelques photos au hasard d’un superbe concert à Zoutleeuw de Filip Jordens et “les p’tits mozarts de ce soir“. Nullement une parodie ou une imitation de Jacques Brel mais un hommage avec tant de respect et de beauté que l’on est pris totalement par le jeu et que l’on oublie rapidement toute référence. On redécouvre le grand Jacques que l’on croyait connaître et cela est vraiment fascinant ! La virtuosité des musiciens contribue énormément à l’éclat du concert, Gwen Cresens époustouflant à l’accordéon, Alano Gruarin le pianiste et Peter Verhaegen à la contrebasse qui parfait le tout. Zuiderzinnen 2004 is voorbij… Leve ZuideZinnen 2005! Luc Huybrechts, de organisator kan weeral in zijn handen wrijven, het was een schitterend succes! Net zoals de vorige jaren trouwens!
