'Maskes' is Antwerp slam for 'girls'.

Except of the masks, the women are naked to preserve the pictures of the fashionable time stamp and social conventions. The result is the idealisation of a woman pure of all cultural and social referees in her most clean personality and individuality.

The role of the masks is multiple: they hide the face who is in our society the first reference to somebody beauty and soul.
Now it's just the opposite, all attention goes to the body, the private garden of the woman but also the universal beauty of human body.
On the other hand the mask gives in both ways a voyeuristic dimension, a reciprocal peep between model and observer.
She is not a passive object anymore but participates in a visual communication.

The pictures are enlarged maximum five times at 49x49cm, on photographic fiber paper.


URBAD DREAMS

Loosed in an unknown environment in the hazard of a dream. Fragile and naked, without prejudice but with the hostility of other people. The aggression of the community against the individual, the judgement will be merciless regulated by the moral standards of those in power! Like the French philosopher Sartre said: "Hell is other people!"
